Local bamboo micro-supply chain for green building: from public parks to sustainable structures
Poliedra ETS · IT
Since 2016 the Poliedra association has built a replicable, low-impact micro-supply chain that valorises bamboo already growing in Italian villas and historic parks. Under a public concession with the local health authority (AST) of Macerata it sustainably harvests and maintains bamboo in a municipal park, has developed fire-based treatment techniques (validated by static structural tests in 2023), runs training courses and documents the full cut-to-installation chain. The self-certified zero-kilometre model produced a 100 m² toroidal bamboo dome and has already been transferred to Sicily (2025), turning an underused local resource into a structural building material while cutting CO₂.
