Oncra (Open Natural Carbon Removal Accounting)
Stichting Climate Cleanup · NL
An open, independent certification scheme that turns real, measured carbon storage — in healthier soils and in biobased materials like timber, hemp and straw — into credits that farmers and builders can sell, with a lean process and no upfront costs. It is built to work the way the EU's CRCF carbon-removal rules intend, so credits are trusted across Europe, and grew from a partnership between the Province of Gelderland, a bank and the Climate Cleanup Foundation. Oncra has certified over 450,000 tonnes of CO₂ removal across 154 projects and 107 participating farmers, foresters and builders — spanning all four pathways (land, construction, rock and ocean) — and unlocked over €1 million in transition finance, with a public registry at registry.oncra.org.
